September 16, 2010
Ghent, Belgium

As usual, every year in September the ACCENTA annual fair takes place. Flanders Expo in Ghent opens his impressive halls for the general public. Within the margins of these projects, a lot of activities will take place.

‘Flanders Inspiration & Innovation’ will take place for the 6th time. This annual project about science, creativity and innovation highlights each year a theme that will be put in the spotlights during the whole event. Almost a complete hall of Flanders Expo will be transformed into a huge Science Village. This year we will focus on ‘Innovation in Mobility’.

As from 18h00
Flanders Expo, Ghent

This evening offers entrepreneurs in mobility a unique opportunity to be informed by famous core figures about how important entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation are in the (extensive) mobility sector. Also talented youngsters and spin-offs will present themselves and their new projects.

Flemish minister of Energy, Housing, Cities and Social Economy, Freya Van den Bossche, will introduce the evening with her vision. Keynote Speaker Ph.D. Susan Shaheen (Director of Transportation Sustainability Research Center, University of California, Berkeley) will present an overview of which innovative technologies will impact the future of mobility in the next 10 to 20 years. A debate about ‘Multimodality / Seamless Journeys’ (moderator: Kris Poté, speakers: Sabin S'heeren, Xavier Van der Stappen, Henk Meurs,...) and a debate about ‘City Mobility’ (speakers: Roger Kesteloot, Steve Stevaert, Kris Peeters (mobility expert),...) are the other ingredients of the program*. This impressive event will be followed by a Networking Walking Dinner in the Science Village.
